51704*BETA
Another member of the 50000 series of Betabots, which attempt to communicate though an exposure of the inner-self.
Like the last posted entry in the 50000 series, this model lacks the equipment necessary for true full duplex communication. 51704 essentially has no way to actively communicate at all, save for control over the red glow produced by its “electronic eye”, which serves- like the blinking LED of a security camera- to communicate to a observer that he or she is being observed in turn.
A photovoltaic array with an incorporated light sensitive “eye” has been installed on the top of Betabot 51704. Once again, this provides Betabot # 51704 with the unique potential to operate independently and indefinitely. Should the apocalypse happen tomorrow, 51704 could wait years upon years for an observer that may never come until the eventual failure and leakage of it’s Lithium Ion Cells.
In this model, the “100th hour overload” or so-called “Suicide Circuits” error has been dealt with by installation of a “Porthole style” observation window- instead of a convex lens. The porthole makes use of “Pub Style” window glass, which achieves the same effect as a convex lens- it does not allow any clear, focused image of the self to be reflected back into 51704’s internal eye.

I love this series so far, it is very interesting. However all the ones I’ve seen on here are light based, pictures and blinking lights etc., it would be really cool to incorporate sound into one of these little guys.

I recognize the location of these photos, but I can’t figure out exactly where. I live in Chinatown; this can’t be far, ja?
