Astoria Scum River Bridge

Wow!

Jason Says:

“Walking to the train this morning, I heard construction noises and half joked that maybe Amtrak was fixing Astoria Scum River. Turns out they were!

The guys were really friendly and very complimentary of our bridge. Awesome!”

As of this morning, The Astoria Scum River, that long dreaded crossing, is dead!!! (or dying, anyway!)

That’s awesome. The bridge remains though as a memorial, right?

It is amazing how your gate stickers were met with ignorance and hostility, and your bridge has been met with change and compliments.

    : > too cool

Does anyone know what the heck was *in* that water, anyway? Or if it even *is* water?

I have a neighbor who built a bridge exactly like this scum river overture except it traverses a slab of concrete upended by tree roots.

I’ve seen “scum rivers” in many cities around this country. They are usually drains for condensation from a cooling system, like refrigerators and such. Just water. If it bothers you that much, perhaps you should stop licking your shoes.
