Follow Up 3 – Squirrelhouse
So it was nighttime and I was visiting the birdhouses- just to check up on them (None of them SEEMED inhabited, but only one has been taken down so far! Too bad it was the nicest one.) -and I saw that this tree had been trimmed by the city, but the workers left the birdhouse untouched! How nice.
So I got out my camera to capture evidence of the trimmed limbs, and what should turn up in the flash but a rat of the trees, or “squirrel”. I believe a Western Grey Squirrel, (S. griseus) to be exact. You can also see something green. It looks like lettuce to me, perhaps snatched from a discarded burger? But maybe they’re tree leaves- part of a nest, perhaps.
I tried to get another pic, but the sudden, blinding light spooked it and it retreated into the safety of the birdhouse squirrelhouse.
Uninhabited squirrelhouse here.
