Follow Up Week -TSA
So these next two weeks will be a theme weeks.
They will be “Follow-up Weeks”
It’ll give me a chance to showcase a bit of the evolution and the responses made to the last 100 or so posters that I’ve put up on the street.
I choose to put this one up today, as it is appropriate to the rant I went on yesterday regarding advertising co-opting street art.
It this case, with a single sticker, the Toronto School of Art turned my entire paste-up into an Ad for their programs.
It’s clever, subversive, and, I think, effective. But it pissed me off.
It was kind of like coming back and finding out that Nike had paid someone to stencil a pair of “Dunks” on her feet.
The original stencil can be seen here.

Ouch. OUCH. I would be infuriated.
I guess the flip side is seeing how advertisers must feel when some tagger comes along and in two seconds bombs their work and subverts the meaning. Weird shit.
