“How To” Theme Week 3

Ok, so

I don’t have all the images that I need today!

Sorry for this and the late update ~ I will add the missing pics when I can!

Step 4!

Tape together some paper to make your poster.

You can use many sorts of paper, but I usually prefer newsprint because it is cheap and thin. Generally, the thinner your paper, the better your poster will adhere to the wall.

I also sometimes use cartridge paper because it has a nice bleached white colour. (Newsprint is a yellowish colour and will discolour quickly in the elements, which can be very nice, but if you want a strong white that will last longer, go with cartridge paper. It is thicker and more expensive, however.)

You can size up the stencil easily by laying the sheets of paper directly ontop.
I tape the paper together with packing tape.

Be aware that when you paste your poster, the paste won’t saturate the packing tape like it will the paper, therefore the tape will be a weak, easily torn part of your poster. You can exploit this for some interesting results, however.

Step 5!

Spray the Stencil!

You should wear a mask and maybe gloves. Spraypaint and its fumes aren’t friendly. When I say “mask”, I mean a proper respirator. Pulling your t-shirt up over your nose isn’t really effective. Neither is wearing a bandana over your face- but it will make you look alot cooler than pulling your t-shirt up to your eyes like you’re pretending to be a turtle. You might say that using a bandana as a mask is cool but crude. (Give me a break.)

You might also say that Michelangelo is a par-tee dude.

Step 6!

Cut out around the image.

I, uh,

I use scissors to do this. Usually..

Tomorrow, Step 7!
