It’s a Found Again Friday!

I came across this sticker the other day, and thought; “oh shit, wow-fuck!”

See, I put this up pretty much 4 years ago, exactly.

I was just passing through Toronto at the time. I didn’t think I’d be making Toronto my home anytime in the foreseeable future. Or at all. I was just tickled to have the opportunity to be putting up some art in a city that had an actual street art culture going!

I decided to make and put up a whole bunch of stickers of Ramona, the female lead character from the excellent Scott Pilgrim series by Bryan Lee O’Malley.

I thought it was an appropriate choice for Toronto, since the series was so Toronto-centric. The city is like another character.

At the time, I was an unknown as a street artist and the books were a little-known underground favorite. (They’re really great. You should pick them up.)

So, flash forward four years, and here I am, a little-known underground favorite as a street artist, and Scott Pilgrim is a mainstream phenomenon- AND- the same week I rediscover this old sticker, Filming begins on the Scott Pilgrim movie here in Toronto!

I think that’s pretty cool.

Anyway, It’s not the greatest sticker, nor is it made with the greatest materials, but it has somehow survived the tests of time.

You never know, really, what works will make it in the long haul.

I really loved spotting this stick again. I’ve gone through my old pics and found some images of these stickers taken at the time they were first put up:

but I wasn’t able to find the original pic of this particular sticker. Maybe I didn’t take a pic because her eye is kinda messed?

So- I’d like to ask all y’all a favor-

Is anyone reading this also working on the Scott Pilgrim film in some capacity? If so, could you give me the low-down on some street filming locations? I would LOVE to get some work up somewhere where it could get some background props! Even if it’s only for a few seconds, I would get a real kick out of that!

I mean, I have stuff in the city, and there’s a possibility it could happen by chance… but it’s a big city.

So… any inside scoops?
