Supremetronic Betabot- Model #51626.

This is a Supremetronic Betabot-

Model #51626.

We had to start numbering the Betabots to keep track of them.

The 50000 series of Betabots are all focused on exposure of the self. Specifically, the inner-self.

Like all other Betabots, they have a mission to communicate. Unlike other Betabots, they attempt to create this communication through an openness with who and what they are. By laying themselves bare, they hope to build understanding and dialogue.

Unfortunately, (like an artist that cares not for it’s audience) no true “dialogue” is possible for this model of Betabot. At best, there is a one-sided exposure of the Betabot. This model of Betabot lacks the equipment necessary for full duplex communication.

Indeed, It has no way to communicate, save the blinking patterns of it’s internal circuitry- which so far have baffled all our linguists and mathematicians. And except for two crude photosensitive “Eyes”, it is lacking sensory equipment. The first “eye” is integrated into the photovoltaic array installed on the top of Betabot 51626. This eye senses when it is dark: time to power up it’s internal circuitry- and when it is light: time to go into sleepmode, begin processing that light and storing the energy produced in it’s Lithium Ion Cells.

The second eye is mounted at the rear of 51626’s internal circuitry. This eye allows this model to sense when it’s veiwport is blocked- typically indicating that someone is peering though it into the Betabots shell, viewing it’s internal workings.

However, It is unclear at this point whether this model’s electronic “Brain” is able to comprehend the data received from it’s secondary eye, though previous test data seems to indicate so. When a mirror was held up to the viewport of Betabot 51625, it shut down for a period of 99 hours, before suddenly powering up and overloading it’s own circuitboards, frying it’s “brain”. This has been corrected in 51626, by replacing the previously flat piece of glass installed in the veiwport with a Convex Lens. This lens allows for observers to accurately view the interior of the Betabot -and allows 51626 to sense their gaze- but the distance between the convex lens and the second eye are greater than the necessary focal length of the lens. To explain; this means that even should a mirror be held up to the veiwport, the convex lens does not allow any clear, focused image of the “Self” to reach 51626’s internal eye.

Should the apocalypse happen tomorrow, Betabot # 51626 has the unique potential to operate, waiting years and years and years for an observer that likely will never come – until the eventual failure and leakage of it’s Lithium Ion Cells.

This ability sets this model apart from most Betabots, which have a limited battery life.

I can only hope to outlive this Betabot. That would be my greatest accomplishment.

Great idea. I think its amazing how it fried itself after becoming self aware.
