So a few days ago I talked about that Luc Tuymans video,
I wrote:
“Most of us don’t really take notice of the urban wallpaper while on our way from A to B. It takes something special to shake us. It takes planning for that space, a work made for that space. It takes more than a transplanted image. It takes a Roadsworth, a Bansky, a Storker. I would love to recreate this experiment with their work.”
But I’ve now remembered that there is a similar sort of video already out there! It’s a time lapse of a Bansky, taken while it was a recent work (Apparently, the work is now suffocated under a Bansky Planksy). The video only captures an hour, but the volume of attention and interaction the work receives in that short time is significant.
Also, Nick reminded me:
A little while ago the Washington Post did an experiment similar to the street painting one, but with a world-class violinist in a subway station. Thought you might be interested. Here’s the article.
