Speaking of boids,

Here’s a new bird house that I built from the few scraps left over from the FlyerPlanterboxes.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to share this on the site; unlike all my previous birdhouses, this birdhouse is NOT installed in a urban setting. I brought it to someplace very rural indeed, and tucked it away where no one will ever really encounter it, save for the birds. So, it’s not street art. Does it belong on my site then? Maybe not.

But I like it, and thought you might like to see it too. I think the top piece is reminiscent of a Japanese Torii. If I get a chance this summer, I’ll build some more Birdhouses like this one for the birds, and people, of Toronto.

So apologies to Banksy, but here is my low-low-no-budget version!!:

WHOAH, hey, now that I’m looking at the video of Banksy’s (very brilliant) installation again, it looks like we’re using the VERY SAME novelty cameras as a base! Look at his ‘Lil baby CCTVs:

This creepy lil’ surprise installation is tucked into a tree at Trinity Bellwoods.

I made this by remixing some disposable electronic novelties. One bird waits for the signal to flap and threaten, while the other bird keeps watch with its unblinking, motion-detecting eye.

Maybe you have heard the legend of the Civil Stag? The Big-Town Buck? The white-tailed deer with the unusual birthmark? It is prophesied that one day it will come into the city to run the cars back to suburbia, pied-piper style.

People will walk in the streets, and bicycles will fly in-between them. Longboarders will claim the parking garages as playgrounds. Dogs will frolic in the parking lots whist plants already begin to break the asphault underneath their paws. Everybody will begin to remember what it was like to breath oxygen instead of exhaust.

These are some of the positive spaces left over from when I cut my Buffingraff masks. I cut them very carefully so I could use them as stickers.

So this one got buffed in a little under 2 weeks time? If I remember right.

Look at the original. There is a discarded Starbucks coffee cup tucked into the pipes by someone with too much money for coffee and not enough knowledge of appropriate garbage recycling locations.

aaaaand… it’s still there.

To buff the Tridog, you’d pretty much have to hit the coffee cup with your hand!

How could you care so much about graff, and not give a damn about garbage?

Graff is apparently the worst.

My Three-Legged Dog got bombed over. Kinda. You can still see it. Tripods are tenacious like that.

I love these, even though they aren’t dark enough to match the Lions correctly…

They remind me of old cartoons- where you could tell what things in the background were going to be important because they were a lighter colour.
