The Departed Astronaut 4
Here it is!
The music for the film comes from an antique, coin operated, mechanical music machine!
These machines are awesome; they used to be used at fairs and funhouses, from what I understand.
I slowed down the recording down by 1/2 of its original speed, to get the proper feel.
The recording comes from “The Zelinsky Collection”, which includes many other antique mechanical marvels, such as a 70 year old fortune-telling gypsy and Laffing Sall.
Also,
Yesterday I speculated that I may of been the first person to use this animation technique, and Luck, on the message board, pointed me to this awesome animation.
-I said:
“I know that animation- it’s super boss. Friggin cool.
But it is a series of still stencils on various backgrounds, It doesn’t use stencil puppets.
That all I meant by “new technique”.
I don’t think anyone has ever made an animation with stencil puppets before.
But I could be very wrong!”
So today I’m going to send some emails out asking for a little help with this. If anyone knows another film that has been made with stencil puppets, let me know!
I tried to ask someone at the NFB, thinking that if anyone would know, they would, but they have crappy email contacts. Not usefull at all.
I think I’ll ask a Librarian.
